Emoodia: Music, Emotion & Learning Through Play

🕒 Duration: 2 hours

  • Projector or large screen
  • Sound system (speakers or headphones for participants)

  • Short musical interaction (body percussion or simple rhythm game)
  • Quick round of names + what music means to you (1 word)

0:15 – 0:35 | Introduction to Emoodia

Theoretical Overview

  • What is Emoodia?
  • The power of gamified music learning
  • Inclusive design: neurodiversity and accessibility
  • Emotional learning through interactive play
  • Oral tradition & ear training in a digital format
  • Trust mechanics and empathy through NPCs
  • Collective values: ensemble play and cooperation

0:35 – 1:00 | Game Mechanics Explained

  • Islands and progression (Jonia, Doriana, Frigiana…)
  • Music-based puzzles: melody, rhythm, sound identity
  • NPC interactions and emotional feedback
  • “Silent Mode” and accessibility options
  • Recording, improvising, and replaying your music
  • Rewards: trust, sound identity, cultural elements
  • Tools: MIDI controller, headphones, voice commands

1:00 – 1:45 | Practice Time: Let’s Play!

  • Guided group play: everyone plays together following basic instructions
  • Divide the room:
  • Explorers (navigate)
  • Musicians (play)
  • Observers (track NPC reactions and emotional dynamics)
  • Rotate roles every 10 minutes
  • Optional: solo play stations with headphones

1:45 – 2:00 | Reflection & Closing

  • Group discussion:

  • What surprised you?
  • How could you use this in your field?
  • Share the pedagogy PDF and link to the Emoodia book
  • Feedback form (digital or paper)
  • Closing music – play a short melody together 🎶
